The 95% Reality: Why Most Christians Don’t Realize They’re Next
Ever since I wrote a post slamming the UK for imprisoning citizens for the equivalent to sending, or even simply sharing, what is subjectively believed to be “mean Tweets”, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about two huge things I believe most American Christians don’t know or realize.
I feel the need to connect them for you here, because they’re not separate problems. They’re the same global systems, at different stages of implementation.
TRUTH #1: 95% of humanity already lives under regimes openly hostile to freedom of speech and religion.
TRUTH #2: While you’ve been distracted by culture war theater, over 20,000 Christians have been massacred in the last four years. Western media refused to report it, or buries it within hours, because it doesn’t serve their political agenda.
Let this sink in for a second.
We Truly Live In A Bubble
Americans live in a bubble. I know this because I’m right there living in it too.
As I talk to people around me throughout the day, I’ve come to realize most people assume the freedoms we take for granted are normal. The ability to speak our minds, worship openly, criticize our government without getting arrested. Most just think that’s how the developed world works. Anyone who’s done some research on this topic, or traveled and asked the hard questions, however, will tell you this is most definitely not the case, despite even those living in the UK, Australia, India and elsewhere, completely oblivious of the oppression and suppression happening within their own country.
Here’s the math for you:
United States + a handful of free nations: About 400 million people with genuine free speech and religious liberty.
The rest of the world: 7.8+ billion people living under authoritarian regimes, “democratic” hate speech laws, Islamic theocracies, or communist surveillance states.
That’s 95% of the world where you cannot:
- Freely express biblical truth without legal consequences
- Openly practice your faith without persecution
- Criticize your government without arrest
- Share the Gospel without imprisonment or death
And yet most American Christians think this can’t happen here because, “…duh, we have the Constitution to protect us!”
The same Constitution that less than 2% of all elected and non elected officials in federal, state and local government and institutions have actually read since high school, or make a concerted effort to even follow.
That Constitution?
Meanwhile, our Christian brothers and sisters are being slaughtered around the world. Right now. Even today while I write this.
Western Media Won’t Report The Genocide
While the media throws new sensational stories at you every few minutes / hours, and Christians argue over the definition of Zionism, who shot Charlie Kirk, The Epstein Files, or if Trump has sold out… here’s what’s been happening:
February 2025, Democratic Republic of Congo:
Islamic militants walked into a church and beheaded 70 Christians. They were simply worshiping. Now they’re dead.
Western media coverage: ZERO.
October 2025, Mozambique:
Four elderly Christian sisters were tied up and burned alive in their home. Then, Islamic State militants killed 20 more Christians and displaced 2,000 from the village.
Coverage: NONE. No outrage. No protests.
Ongoing, Nigeria:
Over 3,000 Christians murdered in 2024 alone. That’s 70% of all Christians killed globally for their faith.
Fulani militants and jihadist groups systematically torching villages. Raping women. Beheading men. Kidnapping children.
President Trump launched a campaign to fight back on Christmas Day, just weeks ago, but this alone did not solve the ongoing conflict.
American Media: “Trump is a warmonger and killed innocent civilians for no good reason.” …never mentioning the Christians murdered. Simply, “Orange man bad. NEXT.”
Outside Africa, the persecution is equally brutal and equally ignored.
Eastern Europe – Ukraine:
Since Russia’s 2022 invasion, over 640 Christian places of worship have been damaged or destroyed, including 596 churches. More than 67 clergy members have been killed between 2022 and February 2025. Ukrainian Greek Catholic priests endured torture in Russian detention; beatings, stress positions, and forced crawls on asphalt over 18-month captivity periods.
Meanwhile, in Ukrainian-controlled territory, the government passed laws banning Ukrainian Orthodox Churches, restricting religious freedom even among those condemning the invasion.
South Asia – Pakistan:
In August 2024, a mob in Jaranwala destroyed 23 churches and set 80 homes on fire following false blasphemy accusations. Pakistani blasphemy laws remain weaponized against the Christian minority, accusations alone can trigger mob violence, forced conversions, kidnappings of young believers, and death sentences.
Young Christian women are systematically abducted and forcibly married to Muslim men.
South Asia – India:
Under the current Hindu nationalist government, anti-conversion laws fuel escalating violence against Christians. Believers are physically assaulted, sometimes killed, and constantly pressured to “return” to Hinduism through campaigns called “Ghar Wapsi” (homecoming).
Authorities remain inactive in protecting victims.
Southeast Asia – Myanmar:
Since the 2021 military coup, the Tatmadaw has indiscriminately attacked churches, killed over 100 clergy and civilians sheltering in places of worship, and displaced more Christians than ever before into camps and jungle refugee situations.
In Chin State (over 90% Christian) the military systematically destroys villages, arrests and tortures pastors, and kills Christian leaders.
Southeast Asia – Vietnam and Laos:
Authorities actively restrict Christian worship and arrest believers on charges of ‘undermining national unity.’ In Laos, officials have forcibly removed Christian families from their homes and coerced them to renounce their faith. Montagnard Protestant communities face systematic harassment and imprisonment.
Almost daily, Christians are being murdered or driven out of their communities in Syria, Iraq, Iran, South Africa… the list goes on and on… and on.
American media response to all these persecutions: Silence… or at best short headline, then “…but in more important news…”.
The Numbers
Let me give you some hard data:
- 380 million Christians face high levels of persecution worldwide
- 1 in 7 Christians globally are persecuted
- 1 in 5 African Christians are persecuted
- 20,000+ Christians murdered in the last 4 years
- 14,766 churches attacked in 2024 alone
- 209,771 Christians forcibly displaced this year
- 60 countries now ranked “extreme” persecution (doubled from 23 in 2015)
Sudan: 7.7 million Christians displaced; the largest displacement crisis in the world. Church leaders report believers “eating animal feces” to survive.
China: Underground churches hunted. Religious education for children banned. Digital surveillance tracking every believer.
North Korea: 400,000 Christians in the world’s worst persecutor state. They’ve been #1 for 42 consecutive years. Discovered believers get sent to concentration camps.
But I’m betting most of you, and especially most “but I go to church on Sundays” Christians you know, didn’t know any of this.
My primary question is, “WHY?”
…Because It Doesn’t Serve The Narrative
Western media will extensively cover Muslim persecution when it fits their narrative. They’ll cover Palestinian issues endlessly. They’ll sound every alarm about “Islamophobia.”
But Christian genocide?
Virtual Silence. Even from our pastors and priests.
Here’s why:
- You can’t criticize Islamic extremism without being labeled “Islamophobic”
- Christianity is seen as a “colonizer religion” (despite ancient African and Asian churches)
- Progressive intersectionality views Christians as oppressors
- China appeasement for trade relations
- Anti-Christian bias baked into secular media institutions, even Christian Institutions and Universities
The same people arresting UK citizens for social media posts are completely silent about Christians being beheaded in churches.
I, like many of you, am positive this isn’t simply an oversight.
This is deliberate.
The Infrastructure Is Already Built
What is most mind blowing to me is that the very surveillance state infrastructure that enables Christian persecution globally is already operational in America.
In the UK: 13,000 arrests per year for “offensive” social media posts. That’s 30+ arrests per day. They’ve recorded “non-crime hate incidents” against 133,000 citizens including children.
In Canada: They’re proposing life imprisonment for “hate speech.”
In Australia: Mandatory 12-month minimum sentences for “hate crimes” just passed in February 2025. “Advocating” force is now criminal. Not committing. Advocating.
In the EU: NetzDG is forcing platform censorship. “Harmful content” laws are expanding constantly by mostly un-elected bureaucrats.
In America: The same infrastructure exists right now:
- Five Eyes intelligence sharing
- PRISM/FISA surveillance
- Corporate de-platforming
- Financial debanking
- ESG/DEI enforcement
- Social credit through payment processors
- Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook and yes, even X, monitoring everything you say and do online
All of it just sitting there. Waiting.
Waiting for someone like the communist Governor of California, and Democrat front runner for President, Gavin Newsom, to activate full blown 1984 Orwellian “thought crime” police state at the federal level.
The Pattern Is So Simple and So Clear
Let me show you the stages:
Stage 1: Build surveillance infrastructure ✓ (Complete in US)
Stage 2: Normalize “hate speech” restrictions ✓ (Happening now)
Stage 3: Criminalize biblical truth as “harmful” ✓ (Happening here now and in the UK/Canada/Australia)
Stage 4: Imprison dissenters (60 countries currently doing this)
Stage 5: Physical persecution (Nigeria, DRC, Mozambique, Sudan)
We’re in Stage 2 and 3 in America. During the Biden administration, we even entered Stage 4 at times.
The infrastructure that enables jihadists to hunt Christians in Nigeria is the same infrastructure that arrests UK citizens for tweets or praying quietly outside an abortion clinic.
It’s the same system.
Centralized control of information. Surveillance of dissent. Punishment of “wrong think.”
And virtually every American Christian I talk to is asleep and apathetic to what’s happening and more so, what’s coming.
We Are Called To Be Angels And Saints
You can likely tell by now that this isn’t me trying to give another sermon about being nicer or praying harder.
This is one of those wake-up call posts.
We are called to be angels and saints while here on earth… NOT comfortable consumers.
Angels carry messages.
Saints stand against evil systems, even unto death.
Neither role is compatible with being a consumer slave to the surveillance state.
The question isn’t whether persecution is coming to America.
The question is whether you’ll be ready when it does.
Stop Funding Your Own Oppression
For those of you already aware of what I’ve outlined above and on the front lines of the spiritual and kinetic battles being fought every day, THANK YOU!
May God continue to bless you and keep you in the palms of His Mighty Hands.
For those of you still on the sidelines waiting for God to speak to you and direct you, here’s what practical accountability looks like:
First: Recognize and accept the reality.
95% of the world already lives under what’s being built here. Your brothers and sisters are being massacred while you debate worship music or argue with people online about things entirely out of your control. The infrastructure to silence you is already deployed and operational.
Second: Stop funding your own oppression.
Every Google and Apple operating system in a smartphone is a tracking device. Every Windows and iOS operating system on your laptop is as well.
Every social media post is monitored. Every digital payment is recorded. Every search is cataloged.
You’re either paying monthly fees, or allowing companies to make monthly fees off the data you feed them, to build the cage that will imprison you and your children.
Third: Take digital sovereignty seriously.
Remember not so long ago when it was “Essential” to keep strip clubs and liquor stores open but 95+% of pastors and priests refused to open their doors for service? Remember when nearly all the parishioners of each of these churches simply played along, went along, and even fought to expel those who questioned the logic behind these actions?
When they come for your ability to share the Gospel online, organize your church digitally, conduct ministry without government approval, bank without ESG compliance, or speak biblical truth without arrest, will you have prepared?
Or will you comply?
This isn’t paranoia.
This is operational security for spiritual warfare.
Why I Started MARK37
I started this business to serve people on the front lines of the cultural, political, and spiritual battles and war we’re living in today because the 5% of humanity that still has freedom is shrinking rapidly.
Phones running GrapheneOS. Laptops with ZorinOS/Linux. Privacy-focused infrastructure. Digital sovereignty education.
The tools and education people need to keep their communications away from the enemy they face on a daily basis.
In 2023-2025, we equipped privacy advocates fighting to preserve freedom here in the USA and, sparingly, abroad.
In 2026, we’re expanding our focus.
We’re going to serve those working overseas fighting similar battles, and in many cases, actually fighting for their lives.
Basic Education Desperately Needed
To help you understand just how desperately needed this work is, let me tell you about a conversation I had with a missionary who works in Pakistan just a few weeks ago. When I explained that all these “smart” devices are listening to everything happening around them, he told me how in Pakistan the underground church throws all of their mobile phones together in a bathtub before meeting and praying together. He told me this as a way to express how they are working to prevent their devices from spying on them and listening to them when they worship.
I could not believe what I was hearing.
I explained that by everyone putting their smart phones in a pile together, all they are doing is making it EASIER for the authorities to identify that a meeting is happening and which individuals are within the group meeting, because these devices all connect with one another and share information with one another.
I have similar conversations with folks here at home that still think their Faraday bag will prevent their phone from recording their conversations. (Unfortunately, it doesn’t. It simply waits to send the conversation recorded once you pull it out of the bag and it picks up a connection again)
The People Who Need Us
The missionaries who need secure communications.
The underground church leaders coordinating persecuted believers.
The human rights workers documenting genocide.
The pastors in restricted nations sharing the Gospel digitally.
The aid organizations serving displaced Christians.
They need tools that protect them from surveillance states actively hunting them.
..and of course, the American Christians who need to wake up and realize WE ARE NEXT.
The Choice Before You
You can keep scrolling. Stay comfortable. Assume America is exceptional and persecution can’t happen here. Keep feeding the surveillance beast with your data, your money, and your compliance.
OR
You can recognize the paradigm. Understand that 95% of the world already lives under what’s being built here. See that your brothers and sisters are being burned alive while the media ignores it. Acknowledge that the infrastructure to silence you is already operational.
You can take accountability. Stop being a consumer slave. Get serious about digital sovereignty. Support ministries serving persecuted Christians and ensure they have the tools necessary to actually accomplish the mission. Prepare your family for harder times.
In short, you can act like the angels and saints we are all called to be. Carry the message. Stand against evil systems. Fight for the 5% that remains free—and equip those in the 95% who are suffering.
This Isn’t Fear Mongering
The underground church in Pakistan is throwing their smartphones in bathtubs before they pray together.
That’s literally accomplishing the opposite objective they are intending.
The pastors in restricted nations risking everything to share the Gospel can’t afford bad advice or inadequate tools. Their lives are literally on the line.
The human rights workers documenting genocide in Sudan need communications that actually stay private.
The aid organizations getting Christians out of Nigeria need infrastructure that won’t betray their operations.
Help Us Help Them
If you’re doing this work, or know someone who is, we’re not another vendor trying to sell you something.
We’re fellow Christian soldiers building tools specifically designed for what you’re facing. Whether you’re coordinating an underground network in a communist country or trying to maintain operational security in an increasingly hostile “Western” nation.
We want to work with you. Please, reach out.
Specifically, contact us at support@mark37.com with “Persecution Ministry” in the subject line. Let’s talk about what you need and how we can serve.
The infrastructure to silence dissent is already built. The time to prepare and resist is now.
Let’s stop using the tools of the enemy to fight the enemy.
For those still sleeping: Wake up. Stop funding your own oppression. Prepare like persecution is coming, because mark my words, it is and already has for most of the world.
If not now, when?
If not you, who?
No. More. Excuses.
